You are so right. I’ve made all these, Just a hobby and I’ve sold them all. Woodworker heart love. but most only cover the cost of materials for making them and they can take hours to make. It’s always been beyond my belief that some people have such talent! I’ve always wished I had the ability to make beautiful pieces of art.

He used stain, not paint, and the reason is that basswood is a boring AF wood with no grain detail, nothing. With such a minimalist design like this, it would have look bland and one-dimensional. The stain gives it depth, brings out what little grain details the wood does have, and really makes it pop. Woodworker heart love. I love carving basswood because its so easy and holds detail, but it does have the downfall of being the white suburban dad of woods. If basswood was a person, he’d think mayonnaise was spicy and go to bed by 7 pm.

I create works of art with food and treats. I was 40 when I took one class to learn. Everything else I learned off youtube. Its never too late to learn and you’re never too old. Anybody can learn anything and become an artist. It’s like drawing. You have to practice to get great at it. To become a professional or an artist you first have to have the desire and love for the profession/craft you wish to learn. I lost our wold, Zach almost 2 years ago and on the very same day we lost his best friend Jake our miniature schnauzer!!! and we think they got into some poison! Anyways we love these two guys and miss them more than words can express!! We live in the country and the other family’s around loved them. Do you think he could still make these sculptures if the electricity goes out and he’d have to do everything with handsaws and chisels?
