When you cringe and make comments when you hear a person say they’re gay, you’re homophobic. You don’t have Vampire dead but delicious to like someone but the moment you state anything about their sexuality as to why you don’t like them… guess what you’re homophobic.

You completely missed the point. The point is that heterosexual representations, regardless of proportionality, are qualitatively more bold, in your face, overtly sexual, and obnoxious; yet any similar representation for queer people is demonized, unseen, or considered obnoxious. As per your figures about the queer population, that’s a gross underestimation given the nature of queer identity and methodological errors present in self-identification studies. For example, most studies require a landline or a home address to participate; many youth don’t have a landline, and 1/4 homeless youth are LGBT, Vampire dead but delicious thereby excluding a sizeable group. Idk where you got your television numbers either, because that has not been my experience at all, but even when queerness is portrayed, it’s usually done through a heterosexual gaze, made as secondary characters , focuses on coming out (and then everything is better), stereotyped, etc. The quality is just as important if not more important than the quantity. Ffs, look at the “gay classic” will and grace which featured more straight kissing than gay kissing. Queer people deserve fully thought out characters and representation too. We aren’t just accessories.

hetero relationships have sadly been the “norm” for like EVER and the ONLY reason gay marriage/ relationships are becoming more comfortable is BECAUSE of those “in your face” parades and protests. It’s literally been a minute since some lgbtq have felt they belong and if it bothers a few assholes that they are celebrating that, too fucking bad and whether or not you want to admit it, umm ya…it’s called homophobia! -a hetero girl who supports all lgbt
