Over 100 investment banks turned its founder Howard Shultz down when he was seeking financing for his startup claiming that Americans don’t care about coffee and would never pay that much money for coffee. Kudos to him for his perseverance.

As a supervisor, I will say I have never followed this rule. It’s hard enough to get out on time in 30 minutes, let alone 20 if I allow people to stay which means I cant deal with any cash handling. I have only let a customer stay the 10 at the close when we were ahead of closing because of a slow night but that rarely happens. Unicorn dabbing Starbucks coffee. Every other restaurant has to follow this rule. I’ve had to stay over an hourcomplaining. It’s actually dangerous to follow an exact opening and closing time. As an ex-fast food manager,

I never was precise or predictable even if it’s only for a couple minutes. I don’t get people who work in retail and still think it’s ok as customers to act as entitled pricks. Like, learn what empathy is. I would never go to a store 10 minutes after it’s closed and expect service. Closing sucks as it is. As a supervisor, I don’t let people in after our posted time. There are literally tons of other locations so close by that stay open later. We barely have time to close after a busy night, keep in mind we can’t handle the money til everyone leaves. Just cause we get paid to stay, doesn’t mean we don’t get in trouble for staying later than our scheduled times. People need to be more respectful of opening and closing times. This applies to all stores, not just Starbucks. If you need your coffee that bad at 10 pm or whatever come sooner. Also, don’t pull into the drive-thru before we open and scream through the box for us to take your order. We aren’t open yet. People always have to act so entitled.
