Comics don’t always translate well to be big screen. Marvel understands this and always makes adjustments, that’s why they are so successful. This movie looks dumb af. I work the night shift I am batnurse I agree 100% with you all the hate in this group for the for a movie that most of those people don’t know who Shazam is

If you like the comic and the premise it looks like the movie is true to it and you’ll like the movie. I like the comic and the character’s appearances in the Justice League animated series, Young Justice, and other DC animated movies. I’m not seeing what doesn’t “translate” here. It seems you don’t like the premise and wouldn’t like it in comic form either. well in the comics he was a goofy kid, this movie looks as goofy as it can get. Obviously we don’t have enough info yet to make a complete comparison, but based on what I saw it seems very G rated. I’m not saying that they got it wrong, I work the night shift I am batnurse I’m not saying that it doesn’t match the comics. I’m saying IT DOES. But that’s also the problem. Comics don’t always translate well to the big screen, you can’t make a movie to satisfy the handful of comic book readers, you have to make it for the masses. Again, this is where Marvel does very well, most of their characters are not exactly like in the comics, if they were they wouldn’t be doing the numbers they are.

But what about this movie doesn’t translate well to movies? The way I see it this movie is an embodiment of the formula marvel uses. It’s clearly less goofy than Ragnaork which was a smash success. IT seems to have made enough adjustments to fit into the big screen The issue here isn’t that nobody gets you. The issue is there isn’t an issue and you are trying to force one based on baseless feelings of favoritism you have. You think you seem reasonable but in reality none of what you said points to a logical mind. Just shows someone operating on preconceived and unwarranted notions There’s a montage in the new 52 comic this is based on where Billy and Freddy(foster brother with the crutches) run around using Billy’s powers irresponsibly and acting immature right after he first turns into Shazam but that’s not the entirety of the story. It deals with a lonely and hurt boy who was abandoned by his parents and has bounced from foster home to foster home unable to trust or open up to anyone. The villain kills his own nephew who loves him and is a child by frying his brain with lightning, the villain is mauled by a tiger and later dies in a pretty creepy way. There are goofy parts, emotional parts, tragic parts, action packed parts, and creepy parts. It’s not Game of Thrones but it’s not for young children either.
