I saw the beautiful replica of one in SD many times. Also, I have traveled to Norway twice and saw several of them. In one of them, they had just tarred it. I managed to get tar on my clothes!
Hotter than a church in Norway shirt
I add that Heddal Stavkirke was owned by my family around 150 years ago. One of my great great great grandfathers married into the owner of the church, that was before the state took over the churches in Norway. Most old Norwegian Churches had a place for people with leprosy outside the church for them to participate but not be seen or get close to anyone. Hotter than a church in Norway. I am proud of Norway and being Norwegian. I have a family line from. telemark.

Have a nice time with our shirts!
Norway going in straight line to 1380 and a family book printed in 1920 naming all inclusive my grandfather and heddle stavkirke. You’d build it in 3 days too cause King Olaf came by with his soldiers and said to convert to Christianity and prove it by building a church for your town or his army would kill and burn your entire town down! Visited this church. It has an outer layer around the church so people with anything contagious could still worship without exposing other people. I love our Stav Kirker, we have very few left, they have burned over time. I believe I have read they are put together with wood only, no nails or metal, wonder if that is only a myth? Our Alcohol is Akevit mad from potatoes and rather “gruesome”. Trolls are friendly creatures we grow up with, love them, but they are ugly as hell! This is quite complex. Early churches were usually built like an upside down boat since that was what they knew how to build. There is a Stable church in Wisconsin in “Little Norway”. It was at the Chicago World’s Fair around 1900. If I remember correctly, the Wrigley’s purchased it.
