Most people say FF6/3 is the best one ever made, but I always go back to FF4/2. Don’t get me wrong, FF6/3 is incredible and right there with it, but I always give the edge to FF4/2.
Final Fantasy II NES Icons shirt or v-neck tee
I was renting this game almost every week until FF6 came out anyway. I did play FF1 on the NES, but because I was totally new to RPGs then, I had no idea what I was doing. Later I played FF Mystic Quest on the SNES, and I actually really liked it. Then I tried FF4 and was hooked on the series and the genre ever since. Final Fantasy II NES Icons. This is exactly how I got into RPGs.

Love this game – Click that tee!
Thank you, Blockbuster. Chrono Trigger is still my all-time favorite RPG but Final Fantasy was my gateway drug. I know folks like ProJared belittle Final Fantasy Mystic Quest for being simple but it was perfect for my eight-year-old self. I was riding my bike about 3 miles, mostly uphill, to our local rental store to get Final Fantasy II every weekend, just like Rob SH. Every once in awhile someone would get the game during the week and reset my save, and I’d have to start over. That sucked! But I loved that game, and eventually, I got my own copy. The rides uphill to get the game were punishing, but the return trip home was always nice because I was excited to play, the game in hand, and I could coast downhill almost the entire way home without pedaling. The story was worthy of a movie. I loved the music as well. I would sit on the overworld map and just let the music play sometimes when I was in my room reading or just hanging out. In this thread, let’s get Final Fantasy fans and try to make them fight. Wait, just get Final Fantasy fans together. They’ll start fighting.
