I am not sure how true this one is, but when my daughter was less than a year old, she spent most of her days watching Snoopy and Charlie Brown you may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one YT videos or playing using mobile device yet she can speak clearly in our native tongue.

Today, she speaks the English language like a Native American and no one in our house talks to her in any language other than Filipino. Just throw out there, my daughter learned many of her language skills from television. So maybe not limited screen time as much as mixing media. Plus kids attended daycare at very early ages, plus after-school programmes, Snoopy and Charlie Brown you may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one because parents have to work at such a tender age these kids are spending less time with direct contact, with family members,it seems to be just one rush. I feel it would be prudent to include more information. What were the variables? Were these full term and or preterm infants? Were any of them prenatally exposed to illicit substances? There are many factors that can cause or influence expressive and receptive speech delay. I applaud those researching this issue but would like more info. Researcher may not be able to extrapolate results to all infants and children in the population depending upon the variables used. Researching the rate of how rapidly these children caught up developmentally once given zero
Stay cool and take it!
Children can learn some things from their tablet or phone ( ABC’s etc) but they only learn how to communicate and have conversations with other humans who know how to communicate and have conversations! This is a daily discussion for me at work!
My daughter is not neuro-typical. She didn’t speak at all until she started playing with Nick Jr apps in my iPhone. She entered preschool and knew her alphabet and had already mastered her first 100 words. She is now 10 years old, reading in a 10th grade level. I guess it depends on the quality of the screen time.
