Many hospitals have comment cards. Leave a positive for whomever and dont forget the other staff, Xray, Ultrasound, tech partners, Yes I’m a nurse no I don’t want to see it. whoever took great care of you. The other staff work hard and deliver great care, but rarely get recogonized.
Yes I’m a nurse no I don’t want to see it shirt
Nurses are the best!!! I have Sickle Cell so I have encountered my fair share of nurses. My best memory is, I was in the hospital due to my SCD. I was 14 weeks pregnant when I started to bleed. I panicked. One nurse held me until I calmed down, while the other prayed over me. This is why I write a thank you letter on the info board every time I’m discharged. Not going to lie I love my sickle cell patients. Yes I’m a nurse no I don’t want to see it. You have the chance to get to know them since they, unfortunately, have to visit more often. I bake pies for my nurses. Seriously. I made pies for teams that have done my CT scans, MRIs, Gastro… Just about every hospital trip for some scan or whatever, I bake a couple pies. No joke, I’m officially “the pie lady” at some offices! I love the nurses I see. Best nurse ever went and bought me my favorite flavor of ice cream as a reward after I had been on a clear liquid diet and everything when I “graduated” to being allowed REAL food again!!
Keep your believe and take it!
There’s a reason its pies now. I used to just take a random baked good (usually homemade bread and homemade jelly), then one day, I got a call asking if I could come in three hours early for a CT scan. I had just put some pies in the oven, and said so. “They’re gonna take 45 minutes, can I come in after that or does it need to be right now?” They told me to just head in whenever and it would be fine. Once I’m up there, I was asked how the pies turned out as I signed in. Eventually I heard that someone had said, “Maybe she’s making them for us!” And that department had become SUPER excited. So, naturally, now I had to. So I made a pie just for my technician (she was amazing, above and beyond) and three pies for the dept (small hospital). They LOST THEIR MINDS when I showed up with pie the next day. So, now its always pies, every procedure.
I always feel like this except from the lab. Lol. So from all of us lab scientists – you’re welcome! For our caring, compassion, quick thinking, troubleshooting, and the results that drive patient care.
And a big thanks and round of applause for all of our nursing staff/cnas, environmental services, providers, dietary, allied health, etc. Teamwork, y all!
