It was meant to be rhetorical, clearly, but if you ask a really really incredibly stupid question,apparently coming from a place of immense privilege and naivete, you shouldn’t be overly surprised at a sharp answer. I’m doing volunteer work with international protection applicants at the moment and I’m not seeing very many happy endings and I can tell you this, it doesn’t have anything to do with their courage or how much their parents loved them. you are being dramatic. You can enjoy a page without ever needing to visit the comment section. Why give up on content you like because comments that are not obligatory to read are bothering you? I’m not reading into it. I’m literally taking it at face value to its logical conclusion. As someone who has been dealing with immigration issues for the past NINE years, I have firsthand experience with how frustrating and ultimately dismissive these sort of “optimistic” comments can feel when you are the recipient. I very much hope his story has a happy ending. Many people’s do not, despite years and years of courage and work and love and sacrifice.
