Everywhere I look there is a flag flying at half-staff. My heart is so heavy and tempted to wonder if it will ever fly at its highest again. Tragedy after tragedy weigh the flag down to half of its soaring power. Hurricanes, flooding, war, shootings, the violence of unmentionable proportions. Seeing the flag fly halfway up for so very long has affected me.
How true americans kneel meaning
Such loud hurt and pain reverberated across media recently from people defending opposing sides of individuals kneeling during our national anthem. Flying our flag at half-staff honors those who have died. Maybe when we see the flag kneeling, we should too. What if we started to see the flag differently? What if the flag was kneeling?
What if we prayed for the kneeling people? We can get on our knees in prayer right next to those on their knees in grief. That’s unity. Mourning with those who mourn. How true americans kneel. Unity. United. The United States. One. The Same. Indivisible. Undivided.

Make the US Awesome again with this tee!
The United States. When our states, of being, are united, and we all bleed red. Our country needs us on our knees. We all need to be flying at half-staff, honoring people all around us. We need to live kneeling, side by side one another. Not flying in a prideful “I’m up here and you’re down there” fashion. If you stand for our beloved anthem, stand in humility and gratefulness and in honor. Please do not stand in selfish pride. It is a complete privilege to be an American. It’s a privilege to have breath in your lungs.
