I don’t give a flying fig what other people do. That’s what I do, have always done, and am unlikely to change. Never wash people, good for you! Run now gobble later Turkey Keep doing what you do if it makes you happy. Rinse people, the same. There now, everyone is happy
Run now gobble later Turkey shirt
I just want to mention that I’ve made a 20+ lb turkey for the last several years in a row. I really like alton brown’s recipe. I think broiling the turkey for the first 30-45 min is the best way to do it, then you tent the breasts with aluminum foil so they don’t dry out. I’ve made 20+ lb turkeys in less than 4 hours this way. I’ve also found that brining doesn’t do much, I’ve done it both ways and couldn’t tell the difference. Run now gobble later Turkey “Washing” implies something a lot more drastic than I’m talking about. All I’m talking about is rinsing off the bloody water and slime that the bird has been sitting in. Nothing more than that. Rinse, pat dry, the end.
Get it now or Regret later
You say that as though I have a daily check list of number of good deeds I have to do or something. I don’t live my life that way. I help when and where I can, and I hope it makes a difference. I hope you’ll choose to be safe by changing dangerous habits, but I can’t make you do anything. I can only inform you, and hope for the best. I didn’t expect such defensiveness, but I’m not overly surprised. to my knowledge I have never ruined food by washing the turkey people usually get sick because they leave the food out instead of putting it away properly I wonder if the turkey is rinsed at all before packaging?? if you cook a fresh killed turkey please don’t tell me not to wash it thank you
