I always move turtles off even highways in the direction they are going. Got a thumbs up from one driver. Even stopped a tractor-trailer on an exit ramp to move one. Cow not today heifer. Tried with a snapping turtle . That did not go as planned so walked behind him until he was safely off the road.

I always stop pick them up and help them across! However I am guilty of relocating them to near creek areas because they won’t make it. I will heck even the ones with a broken shell now though thanks! saved one Friday that was on the two yellow lines in the center of the road and was scared. I wasn’t sure what to do but I did the right thing and kept him in the direction he was headed and took him off the road and made sure he was safe before leaving. He wasn’t hurt he was scared.
Who dose this? It makes me so fucking sick how little respect people have a lack of compassion and respect for animals! Just because it doesn’t affect or hurt you doesn’t me you shouldn’t care! In viewing a video you posted previously, it caused me to act last week with my 6 year old. Cow not today heifer. We saw a mortally injured turtle on the side of the road. I explained we had to be safe before helping anyone or anything else. I was able to move the large turtle, by way of car mat, into my vehicle and bring it to our local vet; who accepted the turtle even after they were closed! It proved to be a moving lesson about empathy and compassion for the both of us. My child understood the turtle would not recover and told the vet tech, “We just wanted to do the right them because the turtle was hurting.” I wouldn’t have felt empowered if I hadn’t watched. Keep sharing, so more eyes are opened.
