The netting was the thing keeping the cat from falling in the first place. To dislodge the cat without someone holding it would have been fatal. Your way isn’t logic, it’s a gamble. And people who actually care about animals don’t want to just gamble with a cats life to try and make things easier for themselves.
My cat and I talk shit about you shirt or hoodie
There are many favorites involved if a cat can survive that. Let alone without immediate medical attention when it’s a hell of a lot safer and cheaper you just climb up and free it. Your philosophy is no smarter than letting a child get hit by a slow-moving vehicle cause it’ll “likely survive” They could have cut the net a small amount vertically from the inside about 12 inches to the side of the cat, enough to get an arm through, then reached around to grab the cat whilst making the cut big enough to get the cat through. Seems to me that “Wolf” is so blinkered only his opinion has any value. My cat and I talk shit about you. Because it would’ve freaked the cat out to hear the noises and a surprising human coming into the picture instead of having someone holding it during that to prevent the freaked out cat from hurting itself or if it could let go lunging to its death.

It looks like he didn’t know the cat was properly caught up in the net until he got up there. Not knowing if the cat will fall, or if the tenant is even in, the best thing to do would be get up to it as quickly as possible. With so many of these videos, the rescuers/owners are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Apparently, no one can ever do anything right. It’s annoying that people who don’t know the full circumstances are judge and jury over everyone’s well~intended efforts. I’m definitely not saying he should/could have done anything differently, not in that situation, but watching the cat being suspended by the scruff of its neck for so long was painful. It’s all right with small and light kittens, but not fully grown cats. Wonderful guy
