The trailer, and especially the music, seem like they are targeting a different demographic than the show has traditionally had. As a long time fan, Bill and Ted Doctor Who colliding in time this trailer does nothing for me. but you seem pretty young, not sure how long you’ve been a fan of the show, I’ve been watching this show for 40 years. Either way, new fans, old fans, it’s all good.

Jodie looks the part of the Doctor tumbling through one situation after another. Altho I too have the thing about the music. Just takes it to a music video feel. I’m 24 yo and have been watching Doctor Who for almost half of my life. Sure I didn’t grew up with old classic Dr Who, Bill and Ted Doctor Who colliding in time but I do think 12 years is plenty enough to call myself a fan, without being gatekeeped. I loved Eccleston, I loved Tennant, I loved Smith, I loved Hurt, I loved Capaldi, and this trailers tells me I’ll love Whittaker.
Get it and enjoy the movie!
I must admit I freaked out (in a bad way) when I saw the leaked tardis interior. Im going to give it benifit of the doubt until I see it fully lit and on the screen but very very differnt. Change is definitely coming. The target demographic is people who aren’t already watching. Trailers are designed to bring in viewers. Targeting long-time fans doesn’t really do that. Targeting people who might be on the fence and could be convinced to watch…that’s what they want to do. There are plenty of children’s shows which are awesome this got nothing to do with that, the problem is they didn’t seem like they could decide on what tone they wanted to go for. Lots of big speeches with gravitas from the doctor but the rest of the trailer stuck a much less serious tone.
