I was a baseball crazy 6 year old when the Washington Senators moved to Minnesota in 1961 to become The Twins…. Baseball american flag shirt Harmon was always my favorite player, couldn’t wait for him to step up to the plate because you always knew there could be fireworks!!
Baseball american flag shirt
i used to love to watch those long , high , homeruns you used to hit that seemed to take forever to leave the park and that swing you had was unforgetable and your kind and gentle manor was more of an influence on little guys like me (at the time) than you may have realized. We were busy eatin those great frosty malts at the old met stadium untill Killer came to the plate , Baseball american flag shirt then all our attention was at home plate I met him once and we had a great conversation about an autographed ball he personalized for me when I was a child. I showed him the ball. He was amazed that I still had it. He turn it over and signed it again. He also personalized another ball for my new born son with the same inscription as the one he signed when I was a child only this time it was my son’s name. Needless to say he is my all-time favorite player!!

Back then we didn’t get to watch nearly every game on TV…in fact it was a rare occurrence. Mostly we listened to the games on old transistor radios that faded in and out, usually at the most inopportune times. Harmon was a class act throughout his baseball career and again in his broadcasting career. He left us too soon and every time I see that number 3 on the stadium wall I’m transported back to that little 6 your old boy with stars in his eyes…at least for a little while! RIP!! They took pride in their penmanship. In their eyes, if you thought they were important enough to ask for an autograph, they took their time and didn’t just scribble something. Two of the classiest pro athletes ever.
