My dogs have the same deformities. They couldn’t walk because their back legs are very weak and they couldn’t hold their body up. But this video gave an idea and hope.

I’m so emotional when it comes to these kinds of stories. I cry with every one of them I see. I have so much more sympathy for animals than I do people. Judge me if you will, but I’ve been hurt by far more people in my life and loved unconditionally by every animal I’ve ever come in contact with. I just love animals. Way to go Buller! Strong Bulldog woman. Early intervention is really key with that. You all did a great job. I had a foster pup with what they originally thought to be swimmers syndrome. A neurologist and MRI determined he had a severe spinal defect. We tried physical therapy, harnesses, wheels, exercises…he eventually went to a new foster when I was having some medical issues of my own, but he was “mine” from 10 weeks until 7 months old. He was ultimately let go of his suffering after determining his quality of life was poor.

I still think about him daily, and miss that little guy. Not all breeders are like this. Reputable breeders don’t do this. You are talking about backyard breeders, puppy mills, and sometimes breeders who call themselves good, reputable breeders, but aren’t. That is true of almost every business. even reputable breeders have puppies born with health or genetic or congenital issues. Many times these defects are the result of standards for the breed. Like the breathing issues in smushed-face breeds, the patella problems in some small breeds or short spine or other health problems. Swimmers syndrome is one of those issues. Many don’t want to deal with the therapy necessary or health issues that can also be present. we’re forgetting how selfish it is to begin with since they must know how many unwanted animals there are in this world and how many unstable humans get their hands on them especially when they’re practically given away in some cases when there’s just a couple left. Shelter dogs just waiting for anyone to love them but here we are reproducing some more custom made to our liking. Sick individuals and greedy
