The most vicious dogs I have ever encountered were dachshunds. Have been bitten, chased and truly terrified of those ‘sweet little cute weiner dogs’. Never have I met an aggressive, poorly trained dog that didn’t have lazy good for anything owners, Train your dog, teach your children to respect animals and simply never leave them alone together. It isn’t hard to train/teach your children/fur babies.

I personally have only run into one aggressive pit bull, and I’ve dealt with many, and his owner had him on a log chain, why? Probably because the way the owner taught and trained him. Other than that one the only “aggressive” thing about the many others were their overly friendly attitude and their tongue as the affectionately lick you. Any dog can be made aggressive but in my year’s little ones need watching more than big ones. A girl her dog and her jeep. Some people train their dogs to be mean. We inherited a pit bull and I have never in my life seen a more caring, less aggressive dog. I have seen her bark at another dog that was acting aggressively to get the attention of the other dog to follow her as she lured them away from the object of their aggression whether it was a person or another animal. There are many more ways she acts caring and affectionate but never has she shown any signs of aggression herself. Even people if treated badly will be aggressive. When I was young, many people bought German Shepherds because the wanted “Mean Military Guard Dogs, and they raised them to be mean guard dogs. The Shepherds had a bad reputation. Then came Rin Tin Tin, and more people wanted a strong loyal dog like “Rinty”.

The Shepherds reputation changed. I delivered Mail for 40 years, I met many pit bulls, when the owners were good decent people who wanted a sweet family pet, that was what they got, when the owners wanted a “Bad Assed” eat you alive monster, that was what the dog turned out to be. I’ve met great Pits, and nasty Shepherd, Collies and Retrievers. It seems the difference always amounted to being the owner. Just don’t get a second hand pit, unless you know for sure the owner was a good person.
